15 Top Social Media Tools for Bloggers
Like it or not, social media is a huge part of blogging. You don't have to be on every network, but you do have to be somewhere. I'm all over Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. (Let's be friends!). Some of those I like (Instagram and Pinterest) and some I don't really (Facebook and Twitter...sorry). But, regardless of my personal disdain for 140 character limits, if you want to be successful and not spend 10000 hours a day on these things, you need the right social media tools. Here are my absolute top favorites for all four social media networks.PLUS, I'm giving you free trials of two of my top favorite tools. A Color Story
I recently discovered A Color Story and I am in love. It's a photo editing tool for Instagram and it is amazing. There are about a billion photo editing tools out there. But I love the filters on this one. It's also got tools for clarity, brightness, contrast, and all that kind of stuff. My photos have been looking so much better since I discovered this one.
Board Booster is my absolute Pinterest secret weapon. Not really a secret because it's hugely popular. But whatever. It schedules my posts based on what I pin, both to personal and group boards, and it "loops" them, meaning that it repins old pins to give them fresh life. It's also got analytics and tools to remove pins with broken links and other bad things. I pin about 75 pins a day with Board Booster. That would take forever and a day doing it by hand, but with Board Booster I just pin randomly for a few minutes while I'm in a cab to work or waiting for carryout. I don't know what I would do without Board Booster.
Like Board Booster, Tailwind is a Pinterest automation tool. It does not have looping, but you can schedule your posts. It also has "tribes," which are basically Pinterest sharing groups. And analytics. I mainly use Board Booster, but I've been experimenting with Tailwind lately. Some people swear by it. We'll see if it becomes my main Pinterest tool.I've got a free month of Tailwind for you, too! Just click here to get your first month free (for new users only).
Meet Edgar is an automation tool for Twitter and Facebook and Edgar is amazing. Aside from the fact that it schedules all your posts, it also recycles them. So when it runs out of posts in a certain category, it just starts over. It doesn't delete them, like most other similar apps. So, schedule your blog post one time, and you'll never have to do it again. This is probably my biggest social media timesaver.Want 14 free days of Edgar? Just click here, my friend!
Social Warfare is my favorite social sharing plugin. It does so many things, I can't even remember them all. Its main function is to give you share buttons on the side of your blog and above and below your posts. But it's also got a Pinterest share button for images, Pinterest settings to set the correct image, a Click to Tweet button...and probably a bunch of other stuff that I can't even remember. I like the buttons a lot, they have kind of a cool animation and the color are customizable. I alternate this one with SumoMe, and love them both.(Buttons like this):[social_warfare]
Love Word Swag. Word Swag is an app that creates quote images for Instagram. That might not by your Instagram style, but if it is, you'll love it. It syncs up with a bunch of stock photo sites for the background image, and then you can use one of their many quotes, or input your own. And there are multiple different text styles to choose from. I use this for all of my quotes on Instagram.Want my free Complete Social Media Checklist for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest? Just click here! Get the checklist!
Afterlight is another one of my favorite photo editing apps. The clarity feature somehow improves every single one of my photos by like 100%. And it's got a zillion other editing features and filters too. I use it along with A Color Story for most of my Instagram photos. Some people prefer VSCO, but I personally like Afterlight better.
Iconosquare is an Instagram analytics tool. It tells you basically everything you could possibly think of about your Instagram. Likes, followers, media posted, the best time to post, filters used. You can also schedule your posts. I'm minorly obsessed with tracking my Instagram on here.
Simple Social Icons
Simple Social Icons are social media follow icons for your blog. It's a free plugin, so no downside. I use them in my sidebar and my footer. Customizable colors, and you can set whatever accounts you want. I'm a fan.
Canva is amazing. It's a graphic design tool and it is so easy to use, even for people like me that are terrible with that stuff. Add photos, backgrounds, text, icons, illustrations, lines...whatever you want. I use it for almost all of my blog and social media images. I don't know what I would do without it (learn Photoshop?).
Pin Groupie is kind of what it sounds like. It lists all the group boards on Pinterest (which is kind of an amazing feat). And you can filter it in a ton of different ways to find the one you want. Super useful for finding and joining Pinterest group boards.
Click to Tweet
Click to Tweet allows you to create a tweetable quote and ask people to tweet it. Like this:Tweet: Awesome social media tips from @blogsbybecca! http://ctt.ec/gPr11+Social Warfare also has a prettier version:[clickToTweet tweet="Awesome social media tools from @blogsbybecca! blogsbybecca.com/social-media-tools-bloggers" quote="Awesome social media tools from @blogsbybecca!"]
Planoly is an Instagram planning app. You can schedule and plan your posts. And it allows you to see how things will look in your feed. My feed is not exactly the most gorgeous, cohesive thing in the world. But I try! Planoly helps.
Over is an app that creates Instagram images and quotes. Similar to Word Swag, but even more styles to choose from. I usually use Word Swag when I have my own quote, but I use Over when I'm braindead and looking for some swipe copy.Want my free Complete Social Media Checklist for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest?
