10 Ways to Repurpose Old Blog Posts
So you’ve got some old posts. You may not think about them much, but don’t just leave them on the shelf. There are a lot of ways to repurpose old blog posts. Here are a few of my favorites.
Repurposing your old content is going to do a few things:
It’ll save you time. You can use your old content in so many ways to create copy for emails, content upgrades, and social media posts. Instead of creating them from scratch, you’ve got copy already written.
It’ll reinforce your expertise. The more content you can show people on your topic, the more you seem like an expert in that topic.
You can reach a new audience. Your old posts get buried under new content. So reintroduce it now and get more eyeballs on it!
Here's how you can do it.
Update old blog posts
This may seem obvious, but a lot of people don’t do it. Go back and update those old blog posts!
There may have been changes since you first wrote it. Or you may have more insight to share on the topic now. Or just a new viewpoint.
Updating old posts can bring new life to them. Don’t forget to do this.
Reference old posts in new content
When you’re writing new content, trying to think about how it ties into your old content.
For instance, I might be writing an article about how to grow your Pinterest account, and I might mention Tailwind. Well, I wrote a whole post on how to use Tailwind. So it’s perfect for me to link it up and say something like “To learn more about how I use Tailwind for my blog, click here.”
Use it as an eBook
Do you have a series of blog posts? Or just a few on the same topic? Try turning them into an eBook.
This would create the perfect content upgrade to offer people to opt into your site. (I wrote an article on how to get content upgrades into blog posts right here).
Split up your list posts
You probably have some list posts (like my “12 of the Best Instagram Tools” post). Think about whether you can split it up and write an article exclusively on one of the things listed in the post

Turn it into a webinar
An old post might be a great topic for a webinar. It can even be a pitch-free webinar if you want. People love these kinds of webinars. And it shouldn’t be too hard to put together, because you’ve already got all that content in the blog post.
Share old posts with your email list
Do you send out a weekly newsletter? Consider sending some links to old posts. Most of your audience won’t have read them yet, and they’ll seem new.
Put some of your blog post content into a course
If you have an online course, consider putting some of your blog post content into the course. It’ll save you having to rehash a bunch of stuff that you’ve already written.
Put some of your blog post content into an email
You can also turn your blog post into an informative email for your list. Real substantive emails can be great ways to boost your expertise and make you seem (a) very helpful and (b) like a real authority on the subject.
Turn your blog post into a YouTube video
Think about how you can turn your blog post into a video. If your blog post talks about how to use a certain software or tool, you could easily create a tech tutorial. Embed it in the blog post, and post it to YouTube (if you’re on YouTube).
Put portions of the post on social media
Try carving out a small portion of your post and posting it on Instagram or to your Facebook page. Tell them that if they want the full post, they can click on the link to get it.
Microblogging on social media can lead to great engagement, and this is a great way to do it.
